Brent alleyway enjoys summer spring clean
3:25pm Friday 30th July 2010

A FILTHY alleyway in Brent has been tidied up by a team of community volunteers.
Dozens of residents, traders and police officers mounted the cleaning offensive in Monks Park, off Harrow Road, after the huge piles of rubbish became unbearable for the community.
PCSO Lamptey, from Tokyngton Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT), and Brent Council environmental officer Alex Pang came up with the idea to revamp the walkway following a meeting with shopkeepers to discuss issues affecting their businesses on July 14.
On Wednesday, they joined Graham Skea, from the council's anti-social behaviour team, PCSOs Lamptey and Corbin, from Tokyngton SNT, and several local residents and traders to follow through with their promise.
Sergeant Liam Tierney, from Tokyngton SNT, said: “It was great that so many people were able to come together to complete this clear up.
"It has made a noticeable difference to the area.”
