Students land top business award

Students at a school in Kingsbury have won a prestigious award for a project that raised thousands of pounds for charity.
Max Winston, Joe Gilbert, Daniel Berelowitz, Daniel Jager and David Lipowicz, who are students at JFS in The Mall, signed up to Young Enterprise in September, giving them the chance to run their own company.
Their company Quantam Keyrings sells key rings with personalised photographs inside and the idea won them Most Innovative Project amongst Harrow and Brent Schools.
So far, the students have raised more than £1,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Max, 17, who studies maths, economics, geography and history, said: “We thought there was a gap in the market for high quality personalised photo key rings so decided to see how far we could take it.
“Now that we’ve come so far, the world is our oyster — I can’t believe how much money we’ve made. It’s so rewarding knowing it’s going to a good cause.”
The boys recently raised £500 by selling souvenir key rings at a Batmitzvah. They also plan to take their project nationally and have been in talks with major companies keen to develop the idea.
Gerry Zinger, Young Enterprise Coordinator at JFS, said he was pleased with the boys’ success. He said: “They keep finding more avenues to sell their product, and because it’s so simple, it works well.
“I’m very proud of them. They have thrown themselves into this project with a level of energy, focus and commitment that would make most business managers to sit up and take notice.”
